The population of Sri Lanka is estimated at 19 million with an annual growth rate of 1.2%. The average Sri Lankan's life expectancy is approximately 72 years. Sri Lanka is a multi-ethnic society consisting of 74% Sinhalese, 18% Tamils and 7% Moors. Other ethnic groups such as the Burgers, Malays and the Veddhas make up the balance 1%.
