Introduction The DFCC Bank, Kurunegala Branch started operations on the 4th of November 1994. Over the years it gained momentum and grew into one of the finest lending institutions in the North Western Province. At present the Kurunegala Branch is the second largest branch of the Bank in terms of loan and lease portfolios.
Achievements Over the years the branch has financed 4 sectors, namely manufacturing, trading, agriculture, restaurants and hotels. The branch has so far been able to capture a large clientele, composing 1,400 (approx.) lease and 1,100 (approx.) loan clients.

Credit Scheme
The
Kurunegala Branch was appointed as the apex institution
in the above refinancing scheme. The agreement was signed
between the GOSL and the DFCC Bank in June 1998. Under
this agreement the Bank provides refinancing to Nine Participatory
Loan Agencies (PLAs) who have signed agreements with it.
In
addition to financing normal businesses in the area, the
Kurunegala Branch funded a cargo ship, which stands out
as the biggest individual loan given to a client to date.
Although the Province does not have a harbour it was able
to finance such a project due to the dynamism of our staff.
