Introduction In
1988 the Board of Directors decided to open five branches
in the provinces to reach clients in the outstations
and the privilege of opening the doors of the first
branch fell on the historic city of Kandy.DFCC
was able to secure the upper floor of the Apothecaries
Hall in Deva Veediya - a legacy of the British era dating
back over a century. We were privileged to organize
the Kandy Branch with a microscopic staff of five.In
1993, we were fortunate to purchase our office building
outright. Our office premises are definitely the most
aesthetic business office in Kandy.
Achievements Development
Banking in its true sense was rather new to Kandy's
entrepreneurs and businessmen. The quality and the reliability
of the services offered by us soon attracted a host
of good customers from other commercial banks and financial
institutions in Kandy. Our beginnings were humble, solely
depending on manpower to meet the needs of clients.Over
the last 12 years by lending to entrepreneurs we were
able to make a meaningful result-oriented contribution
to the socio-economic growth of the hill capital and
the surrounding areas.Presently
we have a clientele of over 1,200. There are over 30
commercial banks and other financial institutions operating
within the Kandy city. Although competition in business
is severe we continue to retain our clients while attracting
new customers.
Unique
Project Funded by the Branch We have granted facilities under Refinance Schemes such as SMAP, SMILE, TSHDP, KFW etc. and are proud to state that during the past our clients have won Gold and Silver Awards as the Best Entrepreneurs of the Central Province.
A unique project funded by us is Suwasevana Hospitals (Pvt) Limited, which constructed the first Ultra Modern Cardiac Surgical Hospital in the Central Province to cater to a growing number of patients with heart-related diseases.
