The Kalutara Branch of DFCC Bank was inaugurated in January 2003 to mainly assist small & medium scale entrepreneurs in and around the Kalutara district, who sought financial assistance to either commence their businesses or to expand their existing enterprises. The objective of the branch opening was to offer comprehensive development banking facilities to entrepreneurs who were determined to venture in to new sectors and new businesses. In addition, lease facilities were also offered to businesses to acquire movable fixed assets and as well as to professionals who were unable to purchase vehicles outright.
Over the period the bank was able to provide assistance to many industries in various sectors such as Construction, Wholesale/Retail trade, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Restaurants and Real Estate Management, Timber milling, Tea processing, Hospital just to name a few. On 26.12.2004 the Tsunami devastation ravaged many of our clients' businesses including their homes and lives of loved ones. At a crucial time like that, our bank came to the rescue of those clients who suffered not only in financial terms but also in many other ways. The banks offered various concessions to clients whose businesses were affected by Tsunami and further financing were provided to revive them again. As a result our clients were able to bring their businesses back to normal within a very shorter period of time.
In 2007, having understood the need of introducing commercial banking operations in Kalutara we opened a unit of our commercial banking arm, DFCC Vardhana Bank (subsidiary of DFCC Bank), which offers almost all commercial banking products and services at present. Now the DFCC bank is fully geared not only with development banking expertise we had over a period of 50 years, but with commercial banking operations as well, under one roof. Many concessionary credit schemes are also in operation and entrepreneurs are able to reap benefit of such low interest credit facilities to improve or expand their businesses. We have dedicated, fully trained and friendly staff at the branch to look in to every possible need of our customers and their satisfaction is our first priority.
