Introduction
The sixth branch of the DFCC Bank commenced operations in Badulla on 29th October 1997. The branch provides financial facilities to business enterprises in the Uva province, which consists of the Badulla and Moneragala districts, and some parts of the Ampara district.

Functions
The branch has provided assistance to business ventures in the form of project loans, working capital loans, finance leases and guarantee facilities.

Sectors Assisted
The main sectors assisted by DFCC are trading, food manufacturing, hotels and restaurants, agriculture, transport services, the construction industry, the service sector and light engineering.

Economic Activities and Potential Development Sectors in the Province

The Uva Province has a diversified agro-based economy where income is generated from tea, paddy, vegetables, fruits, sugarcane, horticulture, pepper, grain cultivation etc. Most of the products are of a primary nature and hence do not fetch a better price in the market.
