Incorporated as a public company in 1995, and originally known as National Enterprise Bank Ltd and subsequently as National Mercantile Bank Limited, is presently re-branded as DFCC Vardhana Bank (DVB) after the acquisition by DFCC Bank.
With the purchase of a 90% stake in the then existing equity of the Bank, DFCC Bank became the major shareholder of the Bank in August 2003 with the express approval of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka to hold up to 100% of the equity of the Bank.
